| Personal History | Hikari Takanashi was born on Petos Colony, a small unimportant Federation colony close to Ferengi space. It often got visits from Ferengi as they passed through the area. Growing up as the oldest of non-identicle twins, she seemed to have inherited more of her mother's genetics o er her fathers. Mainly her blonde hair and blue eyes as her mother's descendancy is originally English. Her younger twin sister got more of the Japanese features from her father. She was always a prankster and always full of energy. As a child she would 'bounce around the house' and often ran circles around her sister. Of course this usually got her into a fair amount of trouble too. Academically she wasn't the best, infact she was fairly average, but still did well on tests. Only when she was in her teenage years did she realise she was better with 'hands on' tasks than books. Her sister was the opposite. At age eighteen she made her first leap. She applied for Starfleet. She wanted to go out a d do things, get away from the colony. She was lucky to just scrape through the entrance exams. At the academy she was known by most of the professors as 'The girl who couldn't sit still!'. After her graduation she was assigned to the USS Stardancer as an engineering officer. The ship was an old outdated Constellation Class and was always on the verge of breaking down or blowing up in their faces. Hikari loved it! It was exciting for her. However that came to an end after two years when the ship was finally decommissioned. She was snapped up by the Alonquin Fleet Yards. It wasn't as impressive as Utopia Planetia or Beta Antares, but it did get a lot of older ships. Hikari now a Lieutenant JG, was assigned to assist with the refit or repairs to the older ships. The shipyards never really built new ships or new classes and she liked that. It was far more exciting to work on older broken ships than build new ones. In 2373 however, the war with The Dominion started. Starfleet started reactivating older mothballed ships, pressing them into service. Hikari, having now been at the Yards for four years was assigned to oversee the refit and reactivation of the USS The Sullivans. She took the job and began work, confident in her skills and her teams. However, the ship needed a chief engineer and she was offered the role. Never wanting to sit still in one place, Hikari took the job. |
