Mission:
84 Years Young
Location: Algonquin Station
Prospective Captain's Log,
After handing over command of the Little Rock to Commander Dauterive, I have been ordered to report to Algonquin Fleet Yards as PCO of the USS The Sullivans.
I must admit, I was skeptical handing over the Little Rock to a fresh Commander. However, knowing now which ship Starfleet's placing me in charge of instead, I must say, I'm quite honored that they don't want The Sullivans to leave the family: I didn't even know my great grand mamaw's ship was still around. I thought for sure it would've been parted out decades ago.
That being said, from what I've been briefed on about Project Phoenix, it seems like being parted out would've been a far nicer fate for her...

"What do you mean 215 Items??"
Violet looked the uninterested engineer dead in the face,
"Ain't that a bit much for a ship I've never been aboard?" She asked.
"With all due respect, Captain:" The engineer adjusted her glasses. "In peacetime, that list would have been 487 items. However, given that we are now in a time of war, the list was originally truncated to 289 items. But, since quite a few of those items relate to The Sullivans' antiquated systems that we'll be removing and updating, the best that Starfleet can truncate that list down to is 215."
"And they expect me to complete that in addition to putting together a crew?" Violet moaned. "Does anyone in Starfleet understand that starships ain't pleasure yachts?"
"The Sullivans has been sitting a long time, Captain:" The engineer responded. "We need to make sure it's not going to just fall apart the moment we put tractor beams on it."
"Ain't y'all supposed to be maintaining these inactive ships?" Violet asked.
"If this were Utopia Planitia, yes: However, we lack the capability and strategic importance of that yard:" The engineer explained. "The only reason we go out there at all is to respond to bilge alarms going off."
Violet sighed and rubbed the back of her head, taking care not to undo her braid.
"Alright; so it's 215 items, but that don't mean I have to do it all by myself. Otherwise the war be over by then." She said. "I could split up the tasks by department... How are we looking as far as senior staff goes?"
"Well, let's see..." The engineer glanced at the PADD that Violet handed back. "Looks like you've got a Commander el'Ataa and a Commander Tiae assigned for Chief Security and Chief Science respectively. They'll be her within the week. Have you screened any other candidates for other positions?"
"I just got here:" Violet responded with a sigh. "I'll start going over candidates tonight, then. In the meantime, would you see if you've got any engineers to spare? I imagine they're going to know the best about the state of those reserve fleet ships."
"I'll let Admiral Vincent know, and we'll see what we can come up with." The engineer nodded.
"Well, I suppose that's a good first step..." Violet said.
