Mission: 84 Years Young
Location: Briefing Room - Deck 1
Timeline: After Part 1

Previously, on Star Trek: The Sullivans:

Celeste walked in last of all, but that was a part of her overall plans in any case. While she loathed being anything less than on time or early, but arriving the last of all would possibly give everyone else a bit of ease as she did. She gave a smile as she entered the room and made her way around the table to her seat next to the Captain, the windfox on her shoulder adjusting his balance point as she seated herself, flowing into her lap finally as she settled herself and she glanced at the Captain, "All currently boarded senior officers present and accounted for, Captain.."

"Then let's begin:" Violet nodded. "As y'all are already aware, we're working on a tight timetable to get this ship reactivated. We'll go over the status of everyone's departments in a moment, but before we do, I'd like to go around the table and have y'all introduce yourselves and tell us a bit about yourselves. I'll go ahead and start us off:"

And now, the continuation:

Violet put her hand to her chest.

"My name is Violet Bluegarden. Until recently, I was in command of the USS Little Rock. I was selected for this ship as part of Project Phoenix due to my experience on other ships of the Excelsior class- those being the USS Kidd and USS Cassin Young respectively. However, there's a second, less-known reason for my selection." Violet explained. "You see, four generations ago, my great great grandmother, Rebecca Bluegarden, was this ship's commanding officer for twenty years. Now, I grew up believing that this ship was parted out to keep her sisters running. So, the fact that she's still here, mostly complete, really blows my mind, and I'm honored that Starfleet doesn't want this ship to leave my family."

Celeste gave a smile as she took her turn next, "I'm Celeste Tiae and I'm not as young as I look. I'm an Aethiri from Aethereum, which is as far in the galactic South of the Federation as it gets, but we tend to maintain our youth particularly well. I'm a scientist by study, specializing in materials and chemicals sciences, but my last assignment was aboard the USS Harbinger, one of the new Defiant-class ships, as her Exec." She took the critter from her lap and lifted the ball of fluff to visibility, "This is Eviar, a Windfox from my homeworld and my constant companion, he's empathically bonded to me and loves to cadge treats from anyone who's willing to provide them. If any of you need anything, I'm always available."

Jo'ohn spoke next. "Greetings. I am Lieutenant Commander Jo'ohn El'Ataa. My species is called Betalgeusian. We are an avianoid race that lives on a fleet of starships and space stations, ever since our world disintegrated underneath us, several hundred years ago. Since that time, and because of that event, we no longer feel comfortable living on a planetary body of any kind." He paused to take a breath, then continued.

"As you can see, I have two mouths. This one is for speaking and breathing, and my beak," he clicked it it twice, "is only for eating. It is an evolutionary modification that occurred in my species nearly two million years ago." He paused again, then continued. "I am the Chief Tactical and Security Officer, and my previous assignment, the USS Einstein, was lost due to an engineering malfunction. Myself and a handful of other survivors limped through space in lifeboats, before being rescued. After a few weeks, back at Spacedock One, undergoing medical treatments and debriefing, I heard about the opening for this vessel and chose to volunteer for it."

Finally, it was Keeli's turn. Though she'd introduced herself earlier, she understood that this was the time for more formal information. "I am Lt. Commander, Dr. Keeli Reex. I have a PhD in Chemistry, not medicine," she clarified. "I come aboard with my son, Jobom. We're excited to be here," she said. "I am looking forward to getting to work; science is my passion and while shore leave is always fun, there's only so many holomovies and museums I can do with him," she said, referring to her son. He was a good kid, very patient with his parents as they shuttled him back and forth across the Quadrants, but she hoped that this would be a good place for them to put down roots. She and Odom had agreed that she'd have physical custody, as his work with Starfleet intelligence meant that he really had no permanent base and they both worried about their son's safety. She'd send him to visit as they both could. For now, it seemed to be going ok.

The next to speak was the surly looking doctor. He had been leaning back in his chair listening to the others while he chewed on his PADD stylus. Clearly agitated from not being able to smoke. Normally would be seen with a cigarette or vape device in his mouth, he had to do something. When it came to his turn he spoke simply.

“D.C. Wyatt. Chief of Medicine. If ya bleeding, dying, or taken over by some space lifeform, I’m the one ya see. Medical has seen better days but I can work with what I got. I got supplies on order but don’t expect miracles until I can get some of the more specialized systems up to par. Beyond that, expect old fashioned medicine til then.”

He leans back in his chair again.

"My turn!" The enthusiastic blonde Chief Engineer called. "Hikari Takanashi! You're new resident fix it girl!" She announced. "Chief Engineer of the refit to the Sullivans and stolen by our captain to be the ships on board Chief Engineer!" She said with a huge grin. "I've been working on the old girl for some time now, so if something ain't finished yet please be patient, I'm going to get to it! If you're wondering I'm only half Japanese, my twin sister got all the 'traditional' looks of my Japanese side, I got my mothers side. Apparently that can happen when you share a womb!" She laughed. "I look forward to working with you all! Oh! Before I forget. We haven't yet finished all the upgrades so some of the consoles are still running the old fashioned durotronic systems. I would suggest you study up on those. They're rather dated, but the whirring and the beeping is kinda cool. But don't expect super fast response times, these old ships relied more on their crews skill than computers! Also... the replicators in the mess hall don't make anything at the moment apart from apple pie. So I hope you like dessert..."

Jo'ohn looked over at the energetic Chief Engineer, then asked a question. "As my dietary needs require raw meat, may I please request that the replicator in my quarters is setup accordingly?"

"Oh I forgot... There are no replicators currently in crew quarters..." Hikari said "But the old fashioned kitchen in the VIP lounge is somewhat functional. We're lucky to have any at all really, back in this ships prime they had food synthesisers. Think of it as a 'poor man's food replicator'. They only made basic ingredients, then you prepared and cooked it yourself." Hikari explained.

To be continued...
