Mission: What's Past is Present
Location: Conference Room
Timeline: After 'Two Crews, One Problem (Part 1)'

Previously, on Star Trek: The Sullivans

"I still can't believe it's only twenty." Rebecca sighed. "That don't make a lick of god damn sense."

And now, the continuation:

"If it is indeed a lingering effect of highly advanced temporal weaponry, as Commander Drake theorizes," Sanchez said. "The functions of said weaponry might be beyond what us in the 23rd century, or you in the 24th, can comprehend."

There was no dramatic entrance. No swish of doors.

One moment the far corner of the conference room was shadow and sensor glare.

The next, there was a man standing there.

Not phasing. Not flickering. Simply present — as though he had stepped out from a blind spot in the room’s attention.

Julian moved forward at an unhurried pace, hands loosely clasped behind his back. The edge of the table shimmered briefly through his sleeve; he didn’t acknowledge it.

“Agent Sanchez.”

His voice carried without force — calm, analytical.

“If this were advanced temporal weaponry, we’d expect consistency. Target selection. A strategic objective.”

His eyes passed over the gathered officers — both captains, security, operations, DTI — not challenging, simply measuring.

“What we’re seeing is selective.”

A breath of silence.

“Twenty individuals. Not divided by department. Not by rank. Not by proximity.”

“That suggests anchor points.”

His gaze flicked toward the sensor displays.

“The question may not be why only twenty manifested.”

A beat.

“It may be why these twenty.”

The room shimmered again. He remained steady.

“If the Rhydonian Nebula is interacting with quantum identity rather than simple chronology, then this is misalignment, not assault.”

Measured. Certain.

“I recommend a comparative resonance scan — transporter signatures and phase variance across both crews. You’re unlikely to find the common denominator is tactical.”

A faint softness touched his expression.

“It will be connection.”

He inclined his head slightly.

“I’ll defer to the Department.”

Irril Sharvo kept his eyes glued to his PADD, though he wasn't really reading the scrolling diagnostic data. He was practicing the art of being invisible while sitting in plain sight ,a skill he had perfected back at the Academy when the whispers about his father’s collaborator past first started following him through the halls.

When Julian spoke, Irril’s posture stiffened further. Connection? Quantum identity? The words felt heavy, pulling at the thread of his own secrets. If this "alignment" was based on connection, what did that say about him? Was he anchored here because of his duty to the ship, or was there some temporal tether linking his family's dark history to this specific moment in time? He forced himself to look up, his blue eyes meeting the gaze of the 23rd Century officer. The man looked bewildered, his classic "Monster Maroon" uniform a stark, vibrant contrast to Irril’s own functional grey-shouldered duty wrap.

"Connection," Irril repeated softly, testing the word. He cleared his throat and looked toward Captain Rebecca Bluegarden, then briefly toward the DTI agents. "If Commander Drake is correct, then the 'anchor points' aren't just biological. They’re informational. Our ship’s computer is trying to process two different versions of the same reality simultaneously." He tapped a command on his PADD, sending a localized data burst to the display. "I’ve already begun a preliminary overlay of the mission logs," Irril continued, his voice regaining its professional, decisive edge. "The 'phasing' isn't random. It’s concentrated in areas of high Isolinear and Duotronic crossover. Our ancestors aren't just 'ghosts'; they are data echoes made physical by the nebula's radiation."

It was at this point that The Sullivans' 23rd century XO, Commander Greyleth, arrived to the rather crowded briefing room. The Eifie woman looked through the crowd and eventually found her way over to her Captain Bluegarden, who was standing with Agent Sanchez and the younger Captain Bluegarden.

Keeli had been listening, simply absorbing information. Now she felt bad keeping the unknown entity in a shield. And subjecting...it...to tests. None of them would've been painful, nor particularly invasive, but she'd used the same distant, unattached method she always used-in this case, a more friendly approach might've been better. She'd never know.

"Captain, Agent." Greyleth greeted professionally, having noted the speech patterns in the room. "Seems like some speculating is already going on."

The doors of the room once again opened and side by side, deep in excited conversation walked the two chirf engineers. The much taller man im the old maroon uniform was deeply invested in the much younger Hikari and their 'technobabble' they were exchanging.

"So, you're telling me that these new bio-neural packs actually think?" Lieutenant James asked Hikari as they entered the room.

"Yeah. They're the latest tech! A stupid amount faster than the old duotronics this ship had when we got here!" Hikari grinned. "Not that I didn't enjoy tinkering with those old systems. But in our century they're considered antique!"

"Where I'm from they were state of the art! As was the warp drive systems!" James chuckled.

"Well the warp drive is actually the same one you worked with. Good old reliable system. A textbook example of an Excelsior Class classic warp drive. Only minimal problems with it so far," Hikari smiled.

"Why thankyou Hikari. Its nice to know someone appreciates my hard work lookimg after the old girl. By the way, watch out for the port anti-matter injector. If its still the same one, it might act up every now and again." James told her beaming with pride.

"Oh yeah, we've had it misalign like three times. Can't seem to keep it aligned above warp six. Its literally driving me up the warp core!" Hikari replied frustration in her voice as she let out a sigh.

"Oh, thats an easy fix. Just go down into the injector port and wedge a fragment of old hull platimg on its left side. It'll come loose every couple of months, but it saves rebuilding the entire assembly." He grinned.

"Thsy never taught that at the Academy. I'll give that a go! Any chance that you could like... I don't know... leave me a manual or something?" She asked giving him a cheeky grin.

"Hikari, I am the manual. So whilst I'm here I'll teach you more about this ship than the guys that builg her. Including the tricks that Captain's 'don't need to know"," he told her with a wink. "Like how I pushed the ship once close to warp nine point nine eight and didn't burn out the nacelle coils and had her purring like a kitten..."

The doors opened as Commander Jason Reeves entered the room. Doing a quick visual scan around the room, the Department heads were there with each of their counterparts. Taking at the Executive Officer from the 23rd century, he simply nodded his head in a respectful manner.

It was then that both of them realised that the entire room was looking at them. They both blushed a little. "Sorry..." they said in unison.

Commander Reex gave both a LOOK, but simply nodded once. Finally, she stepped forward a moment.

"I put my clone under a shield," she said. "I didn't know if they'd be hostile or not," she said. "But I HAVE managed to gather that they are, indeed, living. Not holograms or AI," she said. "However, my future...me...has a new symbiote," she said. "Which means that I will go through it in the next ten years. Doc and I are working on figuring out if we can discover any more information at the cellular level," she reported.

"I think that's just about everyone?" Violet asked, observing the final two arrivals.

"Any more, and we'll have to call the fire marshal." Rebecca agreed.
