Welcome aboard the USS The Sullivans!

We Stick Together!
"When I first took command of this post, all I wanted was to be somewhere else. Anywhere but here. But now, five years later, this station has become my home, and you have become my family. And leaving this station... Leaving you... Is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But this war isn't over yet. I want you to know that, while we were keeping the Dominion occupied, a Starfleet/Klingon task force crossed the border into Cardassia and destroyed the Dominion shipyards on Torros III. Your sacrifices... Our sacrifices, made that victory possible. But no victory can make this moment any easier for me. And I promise, I will not rest until I stand with you again... Here... In this place where I belong." -Captain Benjamin Sisko
The year is 2373.
Following the Dominion's annexation of Deep Space 9, the Dominion Cold War has suddenly gone hot. With the sudden increase in hostilities, Starfeet finds itself in need of more ships.
With the post Wolf-359 initiative Project Phoenix given full authorization and funding from Starfleet, several hundred previously decommissioned starships have been dusted off to meet the Dominion threat head on.
Among those reactivated ships is the Excelsior-class USS The Sullivans (NCC-2942). Made famous by the 20-year Captaincy of Captain Rebecca Bluegarden, The Sullivans may have once been the pinnacle of Starfleet technological advancement, but that time is long gone. The Sullivans is now 84 years old, and the galaxy is a very different place from the one she was decommissioned in over 60 years ago. The last time an Excelsior class saw any active frontline service was decades ago, but desperate times call for desperate measures.
In a heartwarming twist in these dark times, Starfleet has decided that The Sullivans will not leave the Bluegarden family, with command of the old Excelsior being awarded to Captain Violet Bluegarden, the great-great-granddaughter of Captain Rebecca Bluegarden. Being four generations removed, however, means that Violet is a very different officer from Rebecca, with Violet making her name facing threats that her “great grand mamaw” couldn’t even dream of. The cold war with the house of Khartan that Rebecca faced early on in her career might as well be a cakewalk compared to the Dominion threat.
Will you be a part of history? Welcome to the USS The Sullivans, dusted off and back for more.

To all crew,
Today (March 17) is typically recognized as Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick; a religious and cultural holiday held on the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.
As the five Sullivan brothers were Irish-American, the ships named in their honor have always sported Irish iconography, primarily the shamrock, and our ship is no exception, with our ship's patch proudly displaying a shamrock which the side profile of our ship is set against, the patch itself harkening back to the first USS The Sullivans.
As today is an Irish public holiday, I'm looking to get some activity going on this sim. I know that activity here has ground to a halt lately, so the best thing to do is lead by example.
Hope to see you all writing!

» Merry Christmas! Launch plans...

To all crew,
First of all, I'd like to wish every one of you a merry Christmas. It's an honor to have such a dedicated base group of players itching to get to the action. And I promise you that it is coming. However, given that it is the holiday season, and many folks are busy this time of year, I have been waiting to launch us until after the holidays have passed.
However, with several posts now going, I believe I owe it to you all to get this sim launched before the end of the year. As such, when I come back from my 48 hour simming hiatus after Christmas, I intend to get things going and begin advertising our game to the wider simming community.
Now that I've mentioned it, I will be taking a 48 hour simming hiatus to celebrate Christmas with my family, and I suggest that you all do the same. The sim will still be here and ready to go after Christmas.
Regards,
Captain Violet Bluegarden
