Welcome aboard the USS The Sullivans!

We Stick Together!

"When I first took command of this post, all I wanted was to be somewhere else. Anywhere but here. But now, five years later, this station has become my home, and you have become my family. And leaving this station... Leaving you... Is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. But this war isn't over yet. I want you to know that, while we were keeping the Dominion occupied, a Starfleet/Klingon task force crossed the border into Cardassia and destroyed the Dominion shipyards on Torros III. Your sacrifices... Our sacrifices, made that victory possible. But no victory can make this moment any easier for me. And I promise, I will not rest until I stand with you again... Here... In this place where I belong." -Captain Benjamin Sisko

Star Trek The Sullivans Patch.png The year is 2373.

Following the Dominion's annexation of Deep Space 9, the Dominion Cold War has suddenly gone hot. With the sudden increase in hostilities, Starfeet finds itself in need of more ships.

Project Phoenix, a post-Wolf 359 initiative to reactivate and modernize decommissioned starships, is given the green light by Starfleet Command, with orders to reactivate as many ships as possible to support the war effort. In order to meet Starfleet's demands, the leadership of Project Phoenix reevaluate their tier system of ships, upgrading as many as possible to Tier 1: Immediate reactivation.

Among the ships reclassified is the Excelsior-class starship USS The Sullivans (NCC-2942). Previously rated at Tier 3: Reactivate only in dire emergencies, The Sullivans has been upgraded to Tier 1. Despite the fast tracking of her reactivation, however, The Sullivans' material condition remains poor:

The Sullivans is an elderly 84 years old, and the last 64 of those years spent wasting in a reserve fleet at the edge of the Algonquin system have not been kind to her: Decommissioned around the turn of the 24th century, the ship has only undergone absolutely critical maintenance during her time in mothballs. As such, almost all airlocks and several decks have been completely sealed off due to pressurization issues that were discovered. Pressurization issues aside, the fact also remains that almost all of The Sullivans' systems are completely outdated, and the ship is in need of a top-to-bottom modernization to be competitive once again.

Command of The Sullivans was awarded to Captain Violet Bluegarden; a Cardassian War veteran and the great great granddaughter of her longtime captain, Captain Rebecca Bluegarden. However, the journey Captain Bluegarden will have to undergo to bring back her "great grand mamaw's" ship will be a long one: In addition to putting together a crew, Starfleet has given her a 215-item checklist that must be completed before The Sullivans can be towed. Captain Bluegarden and her crew have never been aboard, what they need is stored randomly across the ship, and most of the main power is offline.

Once reactivated, The Sullivans will join her fellow Excelsior-class sisters as the backbone of the Federation's war effort. But first, she needs to be saved from the mothball fleet.

» Saint Patrick's Day and The Sullivans

To all crew,

Today (March 17) is typically recognized as Saint Patrick's Day, or the Feast of Saint Patrick; a religious and cultural holiday held on the traditional death date of Saint Patrick, the foremost patron saint of Ireland.

As the five Sullivan brothers were Irish-American, the ships named in their honor have always sported Irish iconography, primarily the shamrock, and our ship is no exception, with our ship's patch proudly displaying a shamrock which the side profile of our ship is set against, the patch itself harkening back to the first USS The Sullivans.

As today is an Irish public holiday, I'm looking to get some activity going on this sim. I know that activity here has ground to a halt lately, so the best thing to do is lead by example.

Hope to see you all writing!

» Merry Christmas! Launch plans...

To all crew,

First of all, I'd like to wish every one of you a merry Christmas. It's an honor to have such a dedicated base group of players itching to get to the action. And I promise you that it is coming. However, given that it is the holiday season, and many folks are busy this time of year, I have been waiting to launch us until after the holidays have passed.

However, with several posts now going, I believe I owe it to you all to get this sim launched before the end of the year. As such, when I come back from my 48 hour simming hiatus after Christmas, I intend to get things going and begin advertising our game to the wider simming community.

Now that I've mentioned it, I will be taking a 48 hour simming hiatus to celebrate Christmas with my family, and I suggest that you all do the same. The sim will still be here and ready to go after Christmas.

Regards,

Captain Violet Bluegarden
